Water Negotiations To Be Conducted Professionally: Selangor Government

The new negotiations between the Selangor Government and Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd. (Syabas) will be conducted in a highly professional, transparent and ethical manner despite the RM471 million legal suit initiated by the water concessionaire against the state.

Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said while the state will do its utmost to defend itself against the suit in which Syabas claimed for compensation over the state's decision not to allow for a water tariff increase, it will not allow the court case to affect future negotiations.

"We have always been professional and transparent in the past and we will continue to do," said the Menteri Besar.

Selangor is currently preparing an offer document for the water concessionaires: Syabas, Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn. Bhd., Abass and SPLASH to take over the water services industry.
