TheStar:Resolve state water issue and abandoned housing projects, urges Noh

TANJONG KARANG: Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar has lambasted the Selangor government for not taking the initiative to settle the state’s water issue.

He said negotiations were at a standstill because the Selangor government refused to cooperate with the Federal Government.

“The water issue is still unsettled because the state government does not want to work with the Federal Government although allocations have been provided for the building of a new water plant,” Noh told reporters at a Korban Perdana event here.

Selangor’s water restructuring exercise continues to be uncertain and political factors between the state and Federal governments have been cited as the main reason.

Noh also said that the problems surrounding abandoned housing projects in the state must be addressed collaboratively by both governments.

“I’ve been approached by 600 house buyers who claimed they have been cheated by PKR representatives who promised them that they could buy low-cost houses in Selayang, Klang and Gombak under the quota given to politicians,’’ he said.

“They had paid RM2,300 each but are now facing problems getting a refund and the state government is not helping them get their money back,’’ said Noh.

He said the state government must settle the house buyers’ grouses as soon as possible.

He said Pakatan Rakyat was now running its own government and should act responsibly instead of putting the blame on the previous Barisan Nasional state administration whenever things went wrong.

Noh also slammed DAP for saying that the number of civil servants would be reduced if Pakatan were to take over Putrajaya.

A Malay vernacular daily reported recently that DAP’s publicity secretary Tony Pua had told a Chinese daily that the number of civil servants would be reduced to trim the government’s budget if Pakatan were to form the Federal Government.
