Water Issue: Set Aside Political Differences, Says Peter Chin

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui said political differences between the Selangor government and federal government must be set aside so that the state's water supply restructuring issue could be resolved.

He said any political interference in the negotiating process would not bring any benefit and progress.

"I've always given my cooperation to the negotiation on the water supply restructuring.

"The issue has to be resolved in a rational manner and politics must be set aside if we want to move forward," he said at a news conference after a gathering with the ministry's officers and staff, here Tuesday.

Chin hoped the issue would not prolong but be resolved by next year.

He said the ministry would not prevent the state government from taking over the water supply concessionaire but it must be done based on the sale-purchase principles.- BERNAMA
